New Sunscreen Recommendations For Ossining Infants Babies love to be outdoors on a sunny Cortlandt Manor day, but a new report from the American Academy of Pediatrics suggests that changes in the skin that lead to skin cancer may actually occur in a person’s first year. However, sunscreen is not recommended for Ossining children under six months of age. What’s a parent to do?

Cortlandt Manor parents should be aware that infants have a much higher body surface to volume ratio than adults. Because of this, babies absorb much more of the chemicals in the sunscreen.

In addition, younger babies don’t sweat as efficiently as those older, so they are at greater risk of becoming dehydrated, and sunscreen can impair effective cooling by perspiration.

Cortlandt Manor parents should dress infants in protective clothing and hats and keep them in the shade. If needed, a little sunscreen can be used on the face and hands, where sunburns often occur in young Cortlandt Manor children.

Fun Peanut Butter Snacks For Cortlandt Manor Kids

Healthy, growing children need to snack between meals for proper nutrition. Most Ossining parents have probably had the experience of forgetting an afternoon snack. What happens? Kids finally notice they’re hungry about an hour before dinner, and boy is it hard to wait!

A great snack ingredient is peanut butter. It is an inexpensive source of protein and calories and gives Ossining children the nutrients they need to grow and to stay healthy.

Here are some great healthy snack ideas using peanut butter for Montrose and Tomkins Cove kids.

Peanut Butter Banana Pops

Bananas, cut in half width-wise
Popsicle sticks
Peanut butter
Chopped nuts, sprinkles, or other topping

Take the popsicle sticks and push them carefully into the cut bananas. Spread peanut butter over the bananas and roll in nuts or other topping. Freeze. Enjoy.

Peanut Butter Balls

This is the kind of recipe you can’t really mess up, and the portions are approximate.

about 1 cup of peanut butter
a few tablespoons of honey (2-3)
a few tablespoons of instant dry milk

Mix everything together until it forms a large ball. Pinch off small pieces of dough, and roll into ball shapes. Store in the refrigerator, and pull them out at snack time.
